Muhammad and the Birth of IslamIt is without a doubt that the origins of Islam are tied to Muhammad's life and teachings.
Muhammad was born into a time when many religions, like Judaism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and local religions, were present together in the Mecca, his birthplace. Due to this, Muhammad spent much of his time meditating on the religious differences. At 40, he received his first revelation. In 620 CE, Muhammad experienced himself being carried to Jerusalem and into paradise. The first point Muhammad's revelations were favorably received and the start of the Islamic community occurred after Muhammad and his followers left Mecca.
